In the name of God amen.
I, John Alverson, of the county of Northumberland and parish of St. Stephens, Planter, being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same do make and ordain this as my last will and testament in manner and form following.
[Item] I do recomment my soul to the almighty God that gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a christain like and decent manner at the discretion of my executrix or executors hereafter named as for my worldly goods of which God hath been pleased to endow me with I give as followeth.
[Item] I give unto my loving wife Elliner Alverson the whole use of all my land and houses belonging to it in Richmond County during her natural life the s'd land containing one hundred and ninety two acres and after my decease my will is that my three daughters to wit Ellener, Martha, and Ann Alverson have their single lives in it to live together on the mannor plantation during the afore s'd term or pleasure.
[Item] I give after the above s'd term the manner plantation unto my son Archibald Alverson with all things there unto belonging to him and his heirs for ever.
[Item] I give unto my son Telief Alverson sixty acres of land to be layed of to him at the upper part of my land near or next to John Dukes land to him and his heirs forever.
[Item] I do give unto my son John Alverson Jun'r sixty and six acres of land to be layed of to him at the lower end to continue to him and his heirs for ever.
[Item] My will is that my three sons Archibald, Tellif, and John Alverson have no right or title untill my wifes life be ended and to my three daughters be marryd or dead and then to go to be to them as afore s'd.
[Item] I give unto my wife that thirty acres of land that I bought of John Hartley to her and her heirs for ever.
[Item] I give all my personal estate to be equally divided between my wife and four daughters share and share alike and appoint my living wife Elliner Alverson and my son Archiball Alverson to be my ext'rs and execut'rs of this my will and have sett my hand and affixed my seal this 20th day of November 1743.
